I was born and raised in the Heartland Of America. I was married to my wonderful, extremely patient wife Laura the summer after graduating high school. She helped put me through college by kicking me in the shorts whenever I started saying "what have I gotten myself into". Her persistence and reassurance drove me through the hard times. I graduated college in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
I had a job offer to work as a "management trainee" at a meat packing plant in Cincinnati, Ohio. After many long discussions, Laura and I moved to Cincinnati in 2004. What a shock! I was raised in a city with about 25,000 people and Laura in a town of about 1,500. Cincinnati and the surrounding area has a couple million. After a year, it became very clear that my new job was not for me. This put a lot of stress on our marriage. Laura and I moved back to the heartland after I interviewed for, and got, a job as an actual engineer.
Three and a half months later, we found out Laura was pregnant with Mason. Boy was I not prepared for that! I come home from work one day and see Laura going through the filing cabinet. I ask her what she is looking for and, I remember what she said to this day, "do you know where the insurance card is?" Uh, yeah, in my wallet. "I am going to need it…I'm late". Late for what? Ooohhhh…HOW'D THAT HAPPEN?!? Well, obviously…
That is how this little adventure started. I love Mason very much but some days I just feel neck deep in chaos.
While I work as an engineer full time, I also created and operate several websites intended to make a little extra cash to support the family. You can check them out under the "My Projects" link at the top of any page within this site.
I was always told by my parents growing up, "I hope you have a child just like you!" Well, it would appear that their wish has come true. Mason is very much like me when I was a kid. While it is still rather early, I cannot wait to tell him…
I hope you have a child just like you!!
